Geometry Fall Review

This is a 4-hour review split into two 2-hour sessions. Students must attend ALL dates listed.

Review materials will be provided.  Topics covered will include:

Basic Geometry:

  • Identifying collinear and coplanar points
  • Distance Formula
  • Midpoint Formula: finding both midpoint and endpoint, solving problems with algebra
  • Solving problems using angle relationships: linear pairs, vertical angles, supplementary angles, complementary angles, angle bisectors



  • Counterexamples
  • Conditional Statements: Inverse, Converse, Contrapositive, and Bi-Conditional
  • Venn Diagrams


Properties of Equality and Congruence

Parallel Lines and Skew Lines

  • Special Angle Pairs: Alternate Interior, Alternate Exterior, Corresponding, Consecutive (Same Side) Interior
  • Parallel Lines Cut by a Transversal: using Algebra to find missing values.
  • Proving Lines Parallel using Alternate Interior, Alternate Exterior, Corresponding, and Consecutive Interior Angles Converses


Finding the slope of a line using the slope formula

Using slope to determine if lines are parallel or perpendicular

Writing the equation of a line parallel or perpendicular to a given line that passes through a certain point


  • Triangle Sum Theorem: finding missing angles in triangles with Algebra
  • Triangle Exterior Angle Theorem
  • Congruent Triangles
  • Proving Triangles are Congruent: SSS, SAS, ASA, AAS, and HL
  • Determine possible lengths for the sides of a triangle
  • Triangle Inequalities: ordering sides given angles and angles given sides



  • Angles of polygons
  • Parallelograms
  • Tests for Parallelograms in the Coordinate Plane: using distance and slope formulas to prove parallelograms
  • Rectangles
  • Rhombi and Squares
  • Quadrilaterals in the Coordinate Plane: Is it a parallelogram, rectangle, rhombus, or square?
  • Non-Isosceles and Isosceles Trapezoids
  • Midsegment of a Trapezoid
  • Kites



  • Reflections: in the x-axis, y-axis, y=x, y=-x, and vertical and horizontal lines
  • Translations
  • Rotations: 90 degree, 180 degree, and 270 degree counterclockwise rotations about the origin
  • Symmetry (Line, Point, and Rotational)
  • Dilations


Constructions (will not be covered, but practice and assistance will be available for students who learned these):

  • Perpendicular bisectors
  • Perpendicular line through a point on the line
  • Perpendicular line through a point NOT on the line
  • Line parallel to a given line through a given point
  • Angle bisectors
  • Congruent angles
