The ACT is a standardized test used for college admissions. The ACT
consists of 5 sections: English, Math, Reading, Science and Writing
(optional). Each section is scored on a range from 1 to 36, and has
two subsection scores, which range from 1 to 18. The ACT is three
hours and 25 minutes long. It offers some special accommodations for
students with learning disabilities. For more information, go to www.ACT.com.
A Few Things To Keep In Mind
The SAT and ACT are markedly different tests. The content covered
is dramatically different, as are the methods used to score the tests.
Many families have inquired if our SAT course will sufficiently prepare
students for the ACT. The answer, unfortunately, is no. Because the
tests are so different, the strategies employed are also very different,
even contradicting one another in some areas. It is also important
that students not prepare for both tests simultaneously, as the different
approaches are easily confused.
