Ongoing Preparation for Summer Students

STEP 1: REGISTER FOR THE TEST

SAT test dates: October 1, November 5, December 3 - additional dates available at www.collegeboard.com

Register online at www.collegeboard.org. Regular deadlines for registration are about 5 weeks in advance of any given test date, but to ensure a seat at your preferred testing facility, register as soon as possible.

PSAT test dates: October 12 or October 15:

Register through your high school counselor’s office as soon as possible.

STEP 2: CONTINUE WORKING PRACTICE SECTIONS

There are many math, critical reading, and writing skills sections in your blue SAT Study Guide that we set aside for extra individual practice; please take advantage of them. You should always time yourself when you work a practice section, and don’t forget to check your answers so you can rework the problems you miss. If you have any questions about any work you do at home, please come to an Optional Tutorial so you can review your work with a teacher.

STEP 3: TAKE PRACTICE TESTS

As a requirement of this course, you must attend at least one practice test, but we encourage you to attend more. All students must register for practice tests by e-mailing our office at info@morethanateacher.com. Always bring your blue Official SAT Study Guide, your binder, pencils, and a calculator. You can always access the most current practice test dates on our website here.

STEP 4: MAKE UP ANY CLASSES YOU MISSED

If you missed any classes over the summer, you can make them up using any of the classes we are running in September or October. The class schedules are posted on our website under Course Schedules.

STEP 5: ATTEND OPTIONAL TUTORIALS

Tutorials are optional, but encouraged! Students may attend tutorials to review practice tests or do additional work on specific question types. Instructors are available at these sessions, but will not be teaching specific content, only answering questions and providing assistance. Students should come prepared with questions and/or completed practice materials to review. Tutorial are handled on a first-come, first-served basis. STEP 6: ATTEND A WRITING SKILLS WORKSHOP (PSAT) OR AN ESSAY CLASS (SAT)

PSAT students are encouraged to attend a Writing Skills Workshop and SAT students will need to attend an Essay class. Please check our website for the most current dates and locations for these classes. Writing Skills Workshops are listed as a component of PSAT schedules and Essay classes are listed as a component of our SAT schedules.
